I am always on the lookout for a Bourgogne Rouge that shows a little extra fruit.  This was my immediate impression as I blew through the extensive lineup of wines that were offered for tasting.  I can offer a small discount on quantity.  But I figured that most would want to try a bottle before taking the plunge into quantity.  I think you will like it.

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Gravel mixed with clay Site : On the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, the name "Grèves" derives from the sandy and gravely soil. Separated from the Clos des Fèves by a narrow path this Chanson vineyard covers 2 hectares

The Vintage 2019 : After a mild winter, spring settled down with important variations of temperatures and abundant rain which engendered millerandage (small berries). Summer was warm punctuated by several heat waves and a few thunderstorms épisodes which brought some water. The harvest started mid september under a bright sunshine. After a whole cluster fermentation in vat, the wines are aged in oak casks for a period of 14 up to 18 months in our XVth century cellar. Moderate use of new oak.

Tasting : Bright garnet colour. Delicate floral fragrances mixed with aromas of ripe black berries with a hint of vanilla. Complex with a very pure fruit. Tight and deep texture. Refined tannins. Long and elegant finish. SCORE : 16,5+ JANCIS ROBINSON

Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
