Description
I've always found this wine much easier to drink than its bigger, weighty brother. It is lower in ABV and despite 12 months in oak, the barrels are second and third pass, which softens the wine, but reduces the impact of oak on the flavor profile of the wine.
The Montessu has notes of cherry, raspberry and ripe fruit, myrtle and juniper. In mouth, the wine has full-bodied black fruit flavors, with soft, saline notes, with elegant traces of rosemary and black pepper, enhancing a long, silky finish.
Blend: 60% Carignano, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 10% Syrah
Critical Acclaim
Grown in the clay and limestone soils of southwest Sardinia, this Carignanobased red sees the addition of some Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Cab Franc. It begins with tarry chocolate notes and a layer of topsoil lined with blackberry and black pepper. Teeth-gripping notes of anise and dark plum form an intriguing, dense mouthfeel on the finish. Aged for 12 months in French oak
A rich and dense red from Sardinia with dark berries and plums, as well as walnuts and bark. It’s full and chewy and slightly rustic. But real at the same time.
