When a too good to pass up offer came to me , I bought heavily into this wine. Prior to this moment, I had only tasted the Col Solare. The compulsory evaluation of the wine lasted through 1 sniff, sip, slurp, and swallow. Now, I am indulging. I am involuntarily smiling, because this silky, sexy, sumptuous wine, well...It's making me smile.
This blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State is another wine that proves Antinori know how to make great wine wherever they plant vines. This wine is underrated and often overlooked. If you haven't had Cabernet or Merlot from Washington, the time is ripe (right) for you to jump in.
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of black cherry, currants, and spice blend with subtle notes of dark chocolate and cola. Tannins are rich and refined on the finish, a characteristic of Red Mountain fruit, with flavors of berries, black fruit and cocoa

Aging:100% new French oak for 22 months
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain is all varietal and spent 22 months in new French oak. Coming from a mix of the Sol Solare, Quintessence, Shaw, and Kina vineyards, its deep purple hue is followed by a beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied Cabernet with lots of currant fruits, notes of lead pencil, violets, and damp earth, silky tannins, and a great finish. It doesn’t have the richness or concentration of the reserve, yet it’s better balanced. Drink this beauty over the coming 15 years or so.
Also blended with a splash of Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with dusty, dark blackberry essence with the rusticity of Red Mountain terroir. Full-bodied and weighted on the palate, the wine offers a balanced frame and some tight tannins that will loosen in time before. The wine ends with flavors of pencil shavings, cedar and plum reduction on the long, drawn-out finish. It's always good and constantly dependable.
