Owner and winemaker of Chateau Paloumey Cru Bourgeois Superieur, Haut Medoc

Dear Friends,

We will have a visit from a special guest on March 22nd at Brix andMortar.  Pierre Cazeneuve, owner and winemaker of Chateau Paloumey. 

With a history of winemaking dating back to 1850, Chateau Paloumey is one of the oldest estates in the Ludon Medoc region of Bordeaux.  Due to phylloxera,all of the vines were removed in 1932.  The estate was neglected until 1990 when a dynamic team, led by Martine Cazeneuve, decided to purchase the property and revive it. The vineyard was replanted.  Since the rebirth of the property, the Cazeneuve Family has employed the most modern technology and winemaking techniques to push the quality of Chateau Paloumey to greater and greater heights.  

Today, Martine Cazeneuve's son Pierre carries the torch for the winery into the 21st century.  Judging by the consistent quality of the wines produced at Paloumey, the future is very bright indeed. 

I addition to being among the first in Texas the current vintage of Chateau Paloumey, we will also have a Right Bank vs. Left Bank comparative tasting. 

Tasting wines side by side is one of the absolute best ways to sharpen your palate.  The distinct styles of Right and Left Bank Bordeaux will provide an ideal vehicle for this exercise.
