Description

This wine caught me off guard.  Initially, I thrown off by the very Old World-ish label.  And then, the flavor profile was Old World-ish as well.  Of course, my question, "What the heck is this?" I quickly pecked at my computer to get some more information.  I was very surprised at what I found.

Lord Sandwich is...A Dog.

The wine is the second release of a non-vintage blend of varietals sourced from vineyards around Sonoma that you would never expect to see together.   Rhone varietals, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Pinot Noir.

Whatever it is - It Works!

As if this wine wasn't quirky enough, born out of Lord Sandwich's (The Dog) love for socks, a portion of the proceeds for the Lord Sandwich Wines goes to the "Socks for Sandwich" organization.

Socks for Sandwich is a non-profit organization that donates and promotes giving new socks to those in need. We strive to make donating socks simple and encourage the spirit of giving inspired by Socks for Sandwich efforts.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Our 2nd release of Lord Sandwich Red Table Wine...a new red wine blend from 7 single vineyards. After worldwide demand, handfuls of by the glass offerings throughout the USA we doubled our production of the Lord Sandwich Red Table Wine to 1200 cases. Exactly like our first release, we began to seek wine in barrel from our beloved wine community in Sonoma County.

For this second release, our friends from Meeker Vineyard came in strong for us...we nailed the blend on our first blending trial day. The first release took us 5 weeks! The final blend of barrels this time resulted in 3 vintages of Zinfandel from Dry Creek along with a small percentage of Syrah, an even smaller percentage of Pinot Noir and a wee bit of Carignane, Petite Sirah and Grenache.

This new blend is darker in color than the first release, but shows a similar delicious mix of blackberry, pepper, and other spice box aromas that makes Lord Sandwich Red Table Wine rich, complex and approachable. This wine has fine tannins that create a silky smoothness you will love. This is a great table wine that over-delivers on quality.
