Last year, I had to transfer 10 additional 6 packs in to accommodate demand. Considering the fact that I saw this wine for $81 at Central Market, I would say this is a smoking-good value. It is beautifully balanced and approachable. It was a great surprise when a friend served it from a decanter and asked, "Do you have any idea what this is?" This is as good as any Bordeaux for twice the price.
Il Pino shows an intense nose with ripe fruit and some spicy notes. The oak is well integrated and adds complexity and balance to the fruit. The wine is medium to full bodied with ripe tannins, fine acidity and great length. The wine has all the components to develop beautifully in the next 7 to 10 years.
Blend: 52% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon
