Description
Villa Rosa only produces 2 wines, the Ribaldoni and a Gran Selezione. The Ribaldoni is from the young vines that eventually are used to make Gran Selezione. The Ribaldoni is a rich Chianti Classico that could easily be mistaken for a high-quality Riserva. It is aged for 12 months in tonneau, and at least 6 months in the bottle afterwards. It's hard to believe that this is the entry level wine from the estate. Considering the pedigree, it is an outstanding value.
Tasting notes:
Ribaldoni has a lovely ruby red color. Intense fruity notes stand out on the nose, complementing it with a light and delicate hint of toasted wood and spices. The mouthfeel is enveloping, the sip is fresh, vibrant, savory, with soft and velvety tannins. The final is long and persistent.
