Description
Tondonia Reserva 2012 is a dry, full-bodied Rioja red wine blend of mostly Tempranillo with 20% in Garnacha and 5% each in Graciano and Mazuelo. The wine was aged up to six years in neutral oak barrels. The 2012 Viña Tondonia Reserva comes from a very dry vintage resulting in lower grape yields with a nice balance between alcohol and polyphenols. Fragrant with dark berry, plum, sous bois and spicy flavours fresh and silky on the palate, enjoy it now through 2035.
Food pairings: pork tenderloin, veal Porterhouse, roast chicken, prime rib roast, pork chops, veal cutlets.
James Suckling: 96 pts -"Savory berries, plums, iron, minerals, tobacco, ink and blood oranges. Very bright, juicy and structured, with sensational balance, aged savoriness and brightness that are typical of Tondonia reds. Beautiful now."
