Finding a vintage traditional-method sparkling wine of this quality for under $60 is a bargain. Finding one for under $40, as this wine is, makes it an exceptional value. I hope you'll give it a try and discover just how compelling Franciacorta can be when compared to Champagne.

While Franciacorta may lack the historic panache of Napoleon celebrating military victories by sabering bottles of Champagne, I've never found that panache has much influence on how much I enjoy a wine.
