Description
Profile:
A Blanc de Noirs Champagne made from dark-skinned grapes, usually Pinot
Noir and/or Pinot Meunier, but vinified as a white wine.
Tasting Notes:
Expect fuller-bodied flavors with notes of red fruit, such as cherries and
raspberries, along with hints of spice and a subtle earthiness.
Unique Points:
The use of exclusively dark-skinned grapes gives this Champagne a rich and
complex character, making it stand out among other styles.
Region: Côte des Bar
Description:
Located in the southern part of the Champagne region, the Côte des Bar is
closer to Burgundy than the rest of Champagne. The Kimmeridgian marl soil
of the region (similar to Chablis) and a warmer climate are ideal for Pinot
Noir, producing full-bodied and aromatic wines.
Key Grapes:
Primarily Pinot Noir, but also some Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
