Description
The Solco is made from 100% Salamino. In the past, it was difficult to separate the Sorbara and Salamino grapes, because they were co-planted in the vineyards randomly. The Salamino was present as a pollinator for the Sorbara vines.
Paltrineri plants each varietal in distinct rows so they can be separated. This makes it possible to produce a Lambrusco from 100% Salamino. There is no DOC for a Lambrusco made from 100% Salamino. So, Paltrinieri uses the less restrictive labeling Lambrusco dell'Emilia IGT
In the glass the Salamino grape is deep red-to-purple, significantly darker than a wine made from the Sorbara grape. The aromas are pronounced with intense notes of ripe fruits, cherries, sour cherries and darker fruits like blackcurrant and blackberries. The palate is broad and delicately structured. You will feel soft tannins that may surprise you at first. You will appreciate the body of this wine when it accompanies heavier foods. Tagliatelle alla ragu, pumpkin tortellini, tigelle, cured meats, and pastries that echo the dark and red fruits that are found in the wine's profile.
