La Folie is 100% Cabernet Franc from a 5-hectare plot with lacustrine limestone soils. In the cool terroir of Champigny, the fruit from 15–50-year-old vines enjoy a long growing season, which adds to the depth and complexity of this lovely wine.  Aged in wooden vats, this cuvée is driven by red fruit aromas and freshness, with remarkable length on the palate.  La Folie is the perfect companion for summer meals, pairing beautifully with charcuterie and white meats. As winter arrives, La Folie gains depth and becomes an ideal match for fresh cheeses, notably Loire Valley goat cheeses.

The first vintage was 2007. “La Folie” takes its name from one of the vineyard parcels that make up this cuvée.  The winemaker acquired these vines in 2007 — a year that truly lived up to the name “folie” (madness).

Domaine Yvonne’s Saumur-Champigny is Cabernet Franc reimagined through purity, restraint, and energy. The wine opens with a perfumed bouquet of wild violets, red currants, and freshly crushed raspberries, framed by subtle notes of graphite and cool stone — a signature of its limestone terroir.

On the palate, it’s silken and seamless, gliding with juicy red fruit, delicate spice, and a whisper of smoked tea and herbs de Loire. There’s a crystalline brightness to the fruit — like biting into a perfectly ripe cherry dusted with river chalk. As it unfolds, fine tannins lend structure without heaviness, allowing the wine’s vibrant freshness and mineral tension to carry through a long, graceful finish. Every sip leaves a lingering impression of red berries, crushed rock, and quiet elegance — the kind of balance only found in the Loire’s most soulful expressions of Cabernet Franc.
