Description
The Sorbara grape needs Salamino as a pollinator. Otherwise, it wouldn't produce fruit. Historically, a Lambrusco di Sorbara was a field blend of Sorbara and Salamino grapes. Paltrineri plants each varietal in distinct rows so each varietal can be separated. The Piria is a blend of 70% Lambrusco Sorbara and 30% Lambrusco Salamino. The inclusion of the Salamino grape changes the profile of the wine dramatically. The Salamino grapes deepens the color of the wine by several shades when compared to a 100% Sorbara. It also adds weight. The delicate floral aromas of the Sorbara give way to ripe strawberries and raspberries. The wine is broader on the palate, but still dry and refreshing on the finish.
