Description

The last time I had this wine in inventory, it was the 2012 vintage.  To me the 2012 was like the Blue Bell Ice Cream Commercial that says "We eat all we can, and sell the rest."  I sold about half of what went through the store.  You get the gist of what happened to the other half.

With the quality of the 2016 vintage, it has become less likely that any wines from the vintage will be available.  I bought heavily on the 2016s and they have long since found homes in my customers, cellars and wine coolers.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a 2016 Riserva from a producer that I happen to like very much.

The price that we are offering is comparable to widely available pricing for the regular bottling of the 2016 Brunello.

Winemaker Notes

This wine is made from naturally fermented 100% Sangiovese hand-harvested grapes, the Brunello Riserva Poggio Landi wine is aged 48 for months in Allier French Oak barrels, a highly-desirable fine grain wood whose superior structure, combined with an exemplary balance of tannins and aromatic components, guarantees prolonged aging and bestows the resulting wine with unique traits and characteristics.

95 Points Wine Enthusiast

Rose, perfumed berry, truffle and new leather aromas create the enticing nose. Full-bodied and savory, the elegantly structured palate delivers crushed raspberry, ripe Morello cherry, licorice and mocha framed in velvety, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2024–2029. Kerin O’Keefe
