In a vertical tasting of the 2012, 2013, and 2015 vintages, the 2013 stood out as the most powerful and concentrated of the three. We learned that the grapes had developed botrytis during the drying process.  This is the first time I had heard of this occurring after harvest. That explanation seemed consistent with the wine’s remarkable intensity and concentration compared with the other two vintages.

A super, dense core of mixed dried berries, together with notes of caramel and a mix of mild Indian spices, from coriander to mace. Full-bodied with a liqueur-like bead of fruit that’s riding abundant but well-integrated tannins through the long, long finish. Excellent and so fresh. Delicious to drink now, or in your centenary year!
