Description
While the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano requires 2 years of ageing prior to release, the riserva requires an additional year of ageing. Usually, these wines will see a longer period in wood than the normale. This is typically in large barrels that soften the wine rather than add significantly to the flavor profie. A minimum of 6 months in the bottle is also required prior to release.
The Boscarelli Vino Nobile 2017 is in a nice place in its evolution. There is still freshness and tertiary characteristics are slowly developing.

For this Riserva, the De Ferrari brothers select bunches from four or five parcels throughout their historic vineyards in the area of Cervognano. This captivates with fragrances of mint, tobacco, woodland berries and dusty earth, while lush red cherry fills the mouth. There's a sumptuousness to the fruit but also a purity which permeates Boscarelli's wines. It glides fluidly, supported by integrated powdery tannins. Pressed flowers and sweet herbs resonate on the finish.
