Description
The 2021 vintage began with a mild winter and ample rainfall, which set the stage for a great growing season despite a drier summer. Vine growth was healthy with minimal frost damage, leading to the harvest beginning in mid-September. Nebbiolo grapes exhibited a rich sugar content and vibrant acidity, resulting in wines that are exceptionally well-balanced and poised for aging. Overall, despite some weather challenges, the 2021 vintage stands out for its impressive grape quality.
James Suckling
This is a really solid, meaty and mouth-filling Barbaresco that offers vivid red fruit with floral and mineral nuances and hints of licorice and cedar. Medium- to full-bodied with compact, velvety tannins that form the backbone of the wine, showing impressive concentration and length.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The organic Ceretto 2020 Barbaresco reveals a lifted bouquet with bright tones of raspberry and wild strawberry. Those aromas offer a sweet side to the bouquet, but there is also a sour side that comes forth with blood orange or tart pomegranate. The wine ages in French oak for 12 months and is racked into neutral barrel for another year. Fruit comes from both Treiso and Barbaresco.
