Description
This exceptional wine hails from the Lalande de Pomerol appellation in the Bordeaux region of France. Lalande de Pomerol is renowned for producing high-quality wines a lower price than the neighboring Pomerol.
The varietal blend of Château Canon Chaigneau Cuve 8a 2019 typically consists of predominantly Merlot, complemented by smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and possibly other grape varieties. Merlot is the dominant grape in Lalande de Pomerol, known for its plush texture, ripe fruit flavors, and approachable tannins. Cabernet Franc adds complexity with its aromatic qualities and structural elements.
The taste profile of Château Canon Chaigneau Cuve 8a 2020 leads with with aromas of ripe dark fruit. Black cherry, plum, and blackberry, accented with hints of spice, cedar, and tobacco add depth to this complex wine.
The Cuvee 8a is rich on the palate with well-integrated tannins. Velvety on the palate, the wine is approachable and inviting as it slips across the palate like a silk sheet. Bright acidity adds lift, leading to a clean finish, with an echo of spice from a hint of oak that will linger on the palate and beckon you to take another sip.
This wine is drinking well young and will develop nicely over the next 7-10 years. I imagine that few of you will wait.
An excellent value!
