Description
Chevalier de Lascombes 2023 is the refined second wine of the prestigious Château Lascombes in Margaux. Crafted with a blend of 70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot, it delivers a velvety, fruit-forward expression with aromas of dark berries, sweet spice, and floral undertones.
The 2023 vintage features a vibrant core of red and black fruits, balanced by powdery minerality, graphite, and toasted oak. It has a crisp, chalky texture and a soft, lingering finish. Grapes were hand-picked and meticulously sorted between September 7 and October 9. The wine is aged in a combination of barriques, foudres, and amphoras, achieving a gentle, fruit-preserving extraction.
2023 marks a new chapter for the estate under director Axel Heinz, bringing a more focused, terroir-driven style to the famous Margaux label. While approachably fruit-forward in its youth, it has the tannic structure and depth to age gracefully over the next 5 to 10+ years.
