Description
The 2019 Louis & Catherine Poitout Petit Chablis, L'Inextinct is indeed a rare and unique wine. The Chardonnay for this wine is sourced from a .45 hectare plot of pre-phylloxera vines. Only 1000 bottles of this wine are made and 120 bottles are allocated to the US. This wine is a unicorn in every respect.
The old-phyloxerra vines produce a Chardonnay with unique power and structure. On the nose, aromas of rhubarb and ginger are intertwined with green apple, citrus zest, and white flowers. Wet stones provide an additional layer to a very complex web of aromatics. On the palate, the wine is expansive, fresh, and bright, with structure that will take the uninitiated by surprise. The finish is long and mineral driven. You are left with no doubt that this wine is special.
