Description

What a pleasant surprise it was to find this lovely Chassagne Montrachet.  Its been a while since I have tasted a wine from Chassagne.  It brought back many fond memories of when a village Chassagne was a mere $75.  Now the entry levely Montrachet wines are easily over $100.  While not "old school", I have a slightly better deal on this delicious wine for you today.

While only classified as a Village-Level wine, this classically styled Chassagne Montrachet is from an exceptional site, a mere 15 meters from the Grands Cru Montrachet Vineyard on a Slight south-facing slope with clay-limestone soil.

The grapes are hand-picked and whole bunches are pressed in a pneumatic press. The juice is then cold-settled before being gravity-filled within 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in barrels, using indigenous yeasts. After fermentation the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months. 20% new barrels. Regular stirring of the lees.

Aging Potential About 10 to 15 years

Production 3 000 bottles
