Made from 100% of the indigenous Cortese grape, this prestigious “Gavi dei Gavi – La Scolca” has significantly more weight and aromatic expression than the White Label bottling.  The vines, which are over 60 years old,  are tended with the utmost respect for nature, from pruning to harvesting. A rigorous selection of fruit is conducted cluster by cluster, with only the best grapes are used in the production of the Black Label Gavi.

In the winery, under the watchful guidance of a master winemaker, the ancient rules of vinification that have been refined over eighty years of family tradition are applied. The result is an unsurpassed style of Gavi.  The fragrance and flavour of the Black Label are intense, harmonious, and balanced, with a notable freshness. 

This wine is delicious and lively in its youth.  Over time, the wine will develop in complexity, showing notes of flint, almond and hazelnut

La Scolca is the first estate to bottle Gavi del Comune di Gavi. Gavi dei Gavi (tm). This signaled the establishment of a new level of quality in Italian white wines. The name was trademarked in 1966. Family run since 1919, 5th generation winemaker, Chiara Soldati is now the face of the estate and a respected "woman in wine." La Scolca is made with 100% estate-grown fruit on 50 HA of Cortese vineyards in Rovereto.  The "Black Label" Gavi di Gavi (The Gavi of Gavis) is considered one of the top white wines in all of Italy and certainly, as the name indicates, the best of all the Gavis.
