The Mazzei Philip is a wine that embodies the "New World" spirit of Tuscan winemaking. This Cabernet Sauvignon is dedicated to Philip Mazzei, an illustrious ancestor of the Mazzei family, who was a pioneer of viticulture in Virginia alongside Thomas Jefferson.

Mazzei Philip showcases the fragrance and elegance of wines from the Chianti Classico region combined with the opulence of wines from Maremma.  The result is a wine that is both generous and understated.

In the glass the Philip offers ripe blacurrant fruit intermingled with sweet tobacco, and a subtle garrigue that is unexpected and beguiling.  It is mid-weight across the palate with refined tannins that give the wine an understated, but nonetheless, noticeable structure. The finish is accented by subtle spicy oak.  This is a lovely wine.
