After 20-30 minutes in the glass, the La Fuga Brunello is powerful, yet approachable. There is plenty of ripe, dark fruit, and excellent backbone that has been softened to a near velvety texture that echoes the warm vintage. Drink now with a short decant or let it develop in the glass. Either way, there is plenty of pleasure in this bottle.
Pair with meat, game and aged cheeses.

Lots of dark-fruit notes of brambles and blueberries, followed by dried fennel, vanilla bean and sandalwood. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and savory herb aftertaste. Back in form with this vintage. Try after 2026.

The red/garnet 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is generous on opening with ripe notes of crushed blackberries, fresh leather, forest floor, and balsamic herbs. Full-bodied without being heavy, it’s juicy and open-knit on the palate, with ripe tannins and a very nice touch of tea leaf on the finish. It’s a very pleasing wine to enjoy over the next 8-10 years.
